Balaia Sol is a small holiday resort on the eastern side of Albufeira, just a few minutes' walk from the vibrant entertainment area of Oura-Montechoro.

The Balaia Sol resort comprises 3-star holiday apartments. The resort has been built and decorated in the genuine Algarve country style but with all modern facilities.

Although situated close to the Oura-Montechoro area and less than a kilometre from the Santa Eulalia beach, Balaia Sol is in a peaceful location.

As you can see from some of these photos, Balaia Sol has been restfully created with gardens and lawns interspersed between the apartments.

The result is a wonderful place within which to relax and recharge your batteries whether on your own, with family or with friends.

Facilities provided at Balaia Sol include a reception with 24-hour cover, a bar, snack bar, barbecue, swimming pool and separate children's pool, plenty of parking areas, mini bus service, telephone, fax, internet and satellite TV.

The apartments are T0 studio apartments, accommodation 2 people, and T1 apartments, accommodating up to 4 people.

These apartments can accommodate an extra one or two people at the cost per person of £100 per week in April and October, £125 in May, June and September, and £150 in July and August.

Each apartment has a safe, a direct dial telephone, satellite teleivision, sofa bed, kitchen area with 2-ring hob and microwave, dining table and chairs. The T1 apartments have twin beds in the bedroom. All the apartments have a shower/wc.

The staff at Balaia Sol speak very good English and are a friendly and helpful bunch of people who have time to answer questions and generally help the guests at the resort. They have been chosen because they complement the peace and serenity of the resort - well, that's my experience of the staff anyway!

Amongst the hills are the towns of Loulé, Alte, Messines and Silves, all of which are full of history and local charm. Just driving around the hills offers ample opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of the countryside and the gentle pace of life existing away from the hustle and bustle of the coast and the tourist resorts.

Further down toward and along the coast are the more popular tourist attractions - including Krazy World - which boasts a great swimming pool with a couple of shallow pools for very small children, extremely krazy golf, a zoo, pony rides, a children's funfair and those really great trampolines where you bounce sky high but are safely harnessed.

Zoomarine is close to Albufeira and is another superb day out - and it's here that you can swim with the dolphins!
